Tools like the ones inside The IEP Advantage Learning Lab™ are often sold for hundreds of dollars. Someday, I may charge for access here, too. But right now, while the Learning Lab is growing, I'm looking for parents to use, test, and give feedback on the tools, so everything is unlocked for you.
And, since you're getting in now for FREE, your account will always remain FREE! So take advantage of it while you can— Don't wait! Create your free account today and start exploring everything I've built for you.
The IEP Advantage Learning Lab™ was created to give parents practical, interactive tools to help you understand the IEP, prepare for meetings, build stronger goals and supports, track progress, and know what to do when something isn't working.
I created the Learning Lab because I remember exactly what it felt like to be the parent trying to figure this all out.

I remember what it felt like to not know what I didn’t know.
When my son Spencer first entered the IEP process, I was overwhelmed and underprepared, and those first meetings didn’t go very well.
There was IEP language I didn’t understand. There were pages and pages of documents, Procedural Safeguards, reports, and handouts that overwhelmed me and I didn’t really know how to read. And there were professionals sitting around the table who understood a system that was completely new to me.
Meanwhile, the questions in my head wouldn’t stop.
What am I supposed to ask? Who can I trust? Are these goals right for my child? What services does he actually need? How will I know if he’s making progress? What do I do if something isn’t working? Is the school telling me what's best for my son... or them?

Tracie Kelly, creator of The IEP Advantage Learning Lab
And that was incredibly stressful.
After a difficult first year in special education preschool, I kept Spencer home and transitioned him to walk-in services. And I started learning.
The more I learned, the more I realized just how many pieces there are to understanding an IEP. But I also discovered something important: walking into an IEP meeting when you understand the terminology, know what you’re looking at, have your questions prepared, and understand your role on the IEP team feels completely different. It feels good.
For me, that difference was night and day. And once I experienced it, I wanted other parents to experience it too.
That’s why I created The IEP Advantage Learning Lab™.
I wanted to build the resource I wish I’d had when I was trying to figure all of this out. Not another place that hands parents hundreds of pages to read, but a place where you can actually do something.
Have an IEP meeting coming up? Prepare for it. Don’t understand something in the IEP? Decode it. Concerned about your child’s goals or supports? Explore them. Not sure whether your child is making progress? Track it. Something isn’t happening the way the IEP says it should? Explore possible next steps.
You don’t have to learn everything about special education at once. You just need a trusted place to turn when you have a question and tools that can help guide your learning.
That’s what I built the Learning Lab to be. And I built it for parents like you.
My goal is to help parents walk into the IEP process more informed, empowered, and prepared, so they can participate as knowledgeable members of their child’s IEP team.
Parents have spent far too long sitting at IEP tables feeling like everyone else understands the process except them.
It’s time we change that.
